No Borders Humanity Organization (NBH) Participates in International Expert Dialogue on Preventing Child Recruitment
No Borders Humanity Organization (NBH), an Iraqi civil society organization holding Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), participated in the Expert Roundtable Dialogue: Mobilizing Civil Society Organizations to Prevent the Recruitment of Children by Armed and Criminal Groups, held on 2–3 September 2026 in a hybrid format and organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) under the END Violence Against Children initiative.
The dialogue brought together experts and civil society representatives to discuss key challenges, good practices, and practical approaches to strengthening the role of civil society in preventing the recruitment and exploitation of children by armed and criminal groups and promoting safer environments for children.
NBH’s participation reflects its commitment to advancing human rights, child and vulnerable-group protection, youth empowerment, peacebuilding, social cohesion, and community engagement, while strengthening cooperation and partnerships with national and international actors.
The dialogue highlighted the importance of:
• Strengthening preventive measures to protect children from recruitment and exploitation.
Supporting families and local communities as key actors in child protection.
• Empowering children and young people through education, awareness, and skills development.
• Strengthening the role of civil society organizations in prevention, awareness-raising, monitoring, referral, and protection.
• Addressing social and economic factors that may increase children’s vulnerability to recruitment.
• Enhancing cooperation among civil society organizations, national institutions, and international partners.
• Sharing knowledge, experiences, and good practices to develop effective and sustainable community-based responses.
