Activity Report – Training Workshop for the Empowerment of Communities through Advocating for Humanitarian Coordination and Localization
Project Details:

  • Implementing Organization: No Borders Humanity Organization (NBH).
The training workshop was held as part of the project “Empowering Communities through Advocating for Humanitarian Coordination and Localization”, organized by NBH in Dhi Qar Governorate. The workshop aimed to enhance negotiation and communication skills and improve coordination among stakeholders to promote stability and development in the region.

Project donor: International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA).
Workshop Team:
  1. Ammar Al-Ghurabi: Project Manager.
  2. Sabreen Al-Wa’eli: Project Coordinator.
  3. Dr. Masar Al-Ghurabi: Logistics Officer.

Trainers:
  1. Mr. Raed Al-Awsi: Training expert, mobilization advocate, and elections commission media director.
  2. Ms. Aseel Al-Shammari: Training expert and legal consultant in negotiation and peacebuilding.
Participant Categories:
  1. Local government representatives in Thi Qar Governorate.
  2. Some leaders of non-governmental organizations.
  3. Some leaders of voluntary teams.
  4. Journalists.
  5. Teachers.
  6. Academics.
  7. School students.
  8. Some government department managers.

Roles of Participants in the Workshop:
  • Local government representatives in Dhi Qar Governorate: They contribute to identifying community needs and providing necessary support for humanitarian projects and localization implementation.
  • Leaders of non-governmental organizations: They participate in directing efforts toward vital humanitarian issues and contribute to localization efforts and enhancing cooperation among organizations.
  • Leaders of voluntary teams: They play a significant role in implementing community projects and directing efforts towards needy groups in society.
  • Journalists: They work on raising awareness about humanitarian issues and the importance of localization and community cooperation in achieving humanitarian goals.
  • Teachers and academics: They contribute to transferring the knowledge and skills gained in the workshop to the academic and educational community to enhance understanding and practical application.
  • School students: They serve as a new front for building humanitarian awareness and community participation in localization and humanitarian cooperation.
  • Government department managers: They contribute to directing local policies toward supporting humanitarian projects, localization, and enhancing partnerships with community organizations.

Training Objectives: For the first day, led by Ms. Aseel Al-Shammari:
  1. Enhance negotiation and communication skills among various participating groups.
  2. Understand the importance of humanitarian coordination and localization in promoting stability and sustainable development.
  3. Provide practical strategies to improve coordination work among relevant stakeholders.

Training Strategy:
The workshop was organized to include interactive presentations, discussion sessions, and practical exercises to enhance participants’ understanding and application of the concepts presented in their daily work.

Conclusion:
The workshop concluded successfully, with effective participation from all relevant categories. It is expected that the skills and knowledge acquired will contribute to enhancing humanitarian coordination and localization in Thi Qar Governorate and other areas, thereby contributing to achieving stability and sustainable development in the region.
